This story, called Chicken Little is an old folktale from the Jacobs collection of English folktales. Originally the story was known as Henny Penny, and versions of the story with that name still appear and are commonly seen. Chicken Little does not appear in that version of the story at all. Later versions change the name and put Chicken Little as the main character.
Folktales could change in details over the years. Parts are deleted, other parts added. The basic theme of the story remains the same.
In this original story, the small animals meet a sad end. I changed the ending to make it less pathetic. I also added a few characters to make the story more interesting-- the three offspring of Foxy Loxy, as well as Farmer Watermelon who saves the small animals.
