JUST LIKE ME!!!

FROM Suzie-Jean

This story about the Twoytles is based upon something that happened to me when I was about 8 years old. I am over 67 now, so this goes back aways..... Although I do not remember exact details, my husband also remembers this advertising strategy.

Quaker Oats that went into the "real estate business" as a promotional. There were applications on the back for land (one square inch in the Yukon/Klondike),and something about land on the moon as well.

Now-- all of us kids, feeling intimidated by adults , thought becoming a landowner was pretty cool. WE ALL WANTED OUR FOOT ON THE MOON, and/ or in the Yukon you see!

ACTUALLY, we wanted feet on the moon. There might have been some money involved in the moon real estate scheme.

But in order to secure our property, our parents had to buy the cereal. And since we wanted more than one foot, we bothered our parents to buy more than one package of oatmeal at a time. We were really afraid that by the time we finished one package of oatmeal, and bought the next container/box the offer would be up, and the land would be all gone.
