STRANGER’S DAY AT
SILLYDILLY SCHOOL

A WillySilly Story #3

CHAPTER 1: AN INVITATION

One Monday morning when Prince Jay and his two sisters were eating breakfast a letter arrived from SillyDilly Land.

*

Dear Prince Jay, Princess  Kay and Princess Fay,

Friday is “Stranger's Day” at the SillyDilly school. All the children invite a stranger to the school. Since I do not know any strangers very well, I thought I would invite you. Anyway, we are not allowed to talk to strangers so it would be hard to invite one.

Please come.

From Princess Peek-A-Boo

P.S. Prince Hop-a-Lot is in a school play.

 *

“Hmmm,”  thought Princess Kay out loud. “. I
wonder why it is called ‘Stranger's Day,’ if no one can invite one. How strange!"

“Well, actually,” said Princess Fay  slowly.  “ Even though we are not strangers to Princess Peek-A-Boo , we are strangers to other people. And besides, we are not allowed to speak to strangers in WillyNilly Land either. So it's not so strange. ”

“Let’s go ask mom if we can go.”

CHAPTER 2: SILLY DILLY SCHOOL RULES.

On Friday morning, Princess Fay, Princess Kay and Prince Jay went to SillyDilly Land. Prince Hop-A-Lot was so excited to see them that he hopped up and down more quickly than usual, shouting “Goodbye.” He was holding his pet porcupine, Mr. Pin Cushion , who looked dizzy.

“Let’s go to the school,” said Princess Peek-A-Boo.

On the way, Princess Peek-A-Boo hid behind a Zebra who was standing in the street and then jumped out shouting her name. Then she told the WillyNilly children about  some  strict rules in the school.

*

SOME  OF THE SILLYDILLY SCHOOL RULES

1. No walking, running, skipping, gliding, hopping  or standing in the hallways. Only crawling is allowed.
2. Stand and move around on one foot by hopping in classrooms and in the auditorium at all times whether you are there or not.
3.Walk on your hands with your feet in the air  on the auditorium stage.
4. Leave all pigs, ducks, hens and other animals at the school door.
5. Do not smell the garbage.
6. Do not scream at the walls.
7. You must sing in the bathrooms whether you are there or not.
8. Send all banana peels  to the principal’s office, never leave them on any floor or ceiling.
9. When  near a stranger, no talking, crying, screaming, burping, sneezing, or making noise.

 *

Princess Kay thought that rule #1 might be hard. “ I mean, how do you crawl on the floor wearing a box. And what does Prince Hop-a-Lot do?"

“Oh we are used to it,” said Princess Peek-A-Boo . And Prince Hoppy (as she sometimes calls him ) knows how hop in his box.

Prince Jay whispered to Princess Kay, " Some of those rules are
really strange, don't you think?"
"Yes," replied Princess Kay, "But--- ," "I know," put in Prince Jay. "It's not strange to them."

CHAPTER 3: AT SCHOOL ON STRANGERS DAY

The children arrived at the school.  They all crawled to Princess Peek-A-Boo's classroom. Once there, they hopped to their seats on one foot..

“How strange to sit in a SillyDilly classroom,” said Princess Kay.”That’s just what we do at school in WillyNilly Land. “

“ Actually, that means it is not strange to the children of SillyDilly Land or to us , Kay,” her sister whispered, as they sat down in their chairs.

The second they  sat down, the teacher, Miss Krackerbarrel said that it was time to stand up, hop out of the classroom on one foot, and crawl to the auditorium to see the play. When they came to the auditorium they hopped to their seats where they could also sit down.

The auditorium was crowded.

Princess Fay looked around. “I don’t know anyone here except Prince Hop-A-Lot and......” "And where is Princess Peek-A-Boo."

"Peek-a-boo," the SillyDilly princess shouted as she jumped out from
behind a large picture of a hippo. “Of course you don’t know people here except for me an Hoppy and your brother and sister.”  “They are all strangers to you, and be careful not to talk with them.

”Or cry, scream, burp or make noises either,” Prince Jay reminded them.

CHAPTER 4: THE PLAY

The children sat in the auditorium for 1 hour. Then the principal, Mr. Poopcup walked on his hands to the middle of the stage. But someone left a banana peel on the stage. Mr. Poopcup's hand slipped on the peel. He went flying up in the air. He landed on his feet with the banana peel on his head.

Princess Kay whispered to Princess Peek-A-Boo that someone broke the rule about banana peels.

"You are so right," Princess Peek-A-Boo whispered back.

After Mr. Poopcup got back down on his hands with his feet in the
air he started his speech.

“Good morning children. I hope you are having a wonderful afternoon on Strangers Day here at SillyDilly School. We have a nice play and the star is Prince-Hop-A-Lot.

Then all the children clapped their feet.

After 20 minutes of clapping, the principal started speaking again.
"The play is called “Tittle Tattle wink wink Ya Mush –a-dandy Clink. It was written by Prince Hop -a-Lot   in snowman language. When the play is finished I will tell you what it was about.”

The curtains opened and Prince Hop-A-Lot hopped across the stage  on his hands with his feet in the air and sat down on a block of ice.

Just then a little girl  came in on her hands and said,

“Oh tim a kippy som-a-kwarmy canka billy twell?
Meow woof woof ku quack a horse, mix molla moony fell.”

Prince Hop-A-Lot answered her,

"Na nooey, bing pish tooth. Oink."

Then two other children came on stage walking on their hands.

They had to wait their turn because there was no more room on the ice.

Meanwhile, they sang a song:

"Gibble back, Kanga rack, toot toot swing.
Figgle gly, roo ba tack , meal mit ming."

The play lasted 3 minutes so it was soon finished.

Princed Hop-a-Lot and the others in the play came out for a bow as the children cheered and clapped their feet.

Then Mr. Poopcup stood on his hands and told the children what the play was about.

“The Prince of Mush-a-Dandy was cold one summer day. So he went to the park and sat on a block of ice to warm up. A little girl asked him if she could sit on the ice because she felt cold too.The Prince of Mush-a-Dandy said she could. Then the other children came in and wanted to sit on the ice too because they were freezing and wanted to warm up. But the Prince said that there wasn't much room so they would have to take turns. The two children who were waiting their turn to warm up on the ice sang a song to the prince and the girl who were already warming themselves on the ice. The song was about how birds fly south to meet up with orange-striped kangaroos who never hop anywhere. When the birds come back they fly in circles and then they bang into each other. Then they scratch their heads and fly back south to swim in a pool of marshmallows which were put there by polka-dotted ostriches who are friends of the kangaroos. The two children who were singing the song never got to warm themselves on the ice because the play ended."

CHAPTER 5: BACK TO WILLYNILLY LAND

Soon it was time to leave the school. The next thing they knew, Prince Jay, Princess Fay and Princess Kay said goodbye to Princess Peek-A-Boo and Hello to Prince Hop-A-Lot.  “We will come back soon.”

The WillyNilly children came home  and went right to sleep.

The WillyNilly Queen wondered why the children were so tired.

The King sang a song to explain.

BUT I KNOW WHY I REALLY DO,
AND ALL YOU LISTENERS, YOU KNOW TOO.

THEY DID A LOT AND  I CAN SAY,
THEY TRULY  LOVED THE   CHILDREN’S PLAY.
THEY HAD SUCH FUN IN EVERY WAY,
ON SILLYDILLY STRANGER’S DAY.
