SCENE I: ON A ROAD IN THE COUNTRY

child 1

Narrator

One lovely Fall day, Chicken Little went out for a walk.As she passed under a large oak tree, an acorn fell and hit Chicken Little on the head. Chicken Little did not look to see what fell on her head. Instead, she started to screech.

child 2

Chicken Little

"My Goodness, gracious woe is me,
It's such an awful tragedy.
The sky is falling, I must go.
To warn the king, he needs to know."

child 3

Narrator

So off Chicken Little went in quite a hurry, never stopping to think what the king, once told, would or could do about it.

On the way, Chicken Little met Henny Penny.

child 4

Henny Penny

"Oh Chicken Little, my oh my,
One wonders, yes one questions why,
You're on your way and rushing so.
Wherever do you have to go?

child 5

Chicken Little

"Henny Penny, did you see?
The sky began to fall on me.
And that is why I need to go,
To warn the King, he's got to know."

child 6 Henny Penny

"Chicken Little, you'll agree,
The two of us can shout our plea.
We'll go together ,tell the king,
About this very horrid thing."

child 7

Narrator

So off Chicken Little and Henny Penny went in quite a hurry, never stopping to think what the king, once informed, really would or could do about it.

On the way, Chicken Little and Henny Penny met Ducky Lucky.

child 8

Ducky Lucky

" Wait a minute, stop and talk,
It wouldn't hurt to slow your walk;
To tell me why you're rushing so,
And where you think you need to go."

child 9

Henny Penny

"Oh, Ducky Lucky, here is why,
We're frightened of the falling sky.
The two of us have made a vow,
To tell the king, we're going now."

child 10

Ducky Lucky

"I really think, it seems to me,
The king should hear the news from three.
So I've decided, what I'll do,
I'll go and tell the King, with you."

child 11

Narrator

So now, Chicken Little, Henny Penny and Ducky
Lucky were running to the palace .They decided that the sooner they told the king about the sky falling, the better--even though they never thought about what the King would or could do about it.

On the way, Chicken Little, Henny Penny and Ducky Lucky met Goosey Loosey.

child 12

Goosey Loosey

"Wherever are you hurrying to?
Perhaps I'd go along with you.
It seems you want to get there soon,
Before the sun hides out, from moon. "

child 13

Ducky Lucky

"Oh Goosey, we can guarantee,
We need to travel hurriedly,
To tell the King about the sky.
It's coming down from way up high."

child 14

Goosey Loosey

" Well, if the sky began to pour,
The news is better told by four.
So this is what I plan to do...
I'll tell the king along with you"

child 15

Narrator

"So now Chicken Little, Henny Penny, Ducky
Lucky, and Goosey Loosey ran off to tell the King that the sky was falling
.

Do you think they ever for one second stopped to think what the King really, really, really would or could do about it?

On the way they met Turkey Lurkey.

child 16

Turkey Lurkey

" Gosh and Golly, oh my word,
I've never seen or even heard,
Of wild running. What's goin' on?
Please tell me fast before you're gone.

child 17

Goosey Loosey

"Oh Turkey Lurkey, can't stop now
To tell you why, or what or how.
But if you run along with us,
We'll tell you all about the fuss.

child 18

Narrator

So Turkey Lurkey ran along with Chicken Little,
Henny Penny, Ducky Lucky and Goosey Loosey.
On the way Goosey Loosey told Turkey Lurkey that the sky was falling and that they were on their way to tell the king.

So Turkey Lurkey joined them, never stopping to think what on earth the king would or could do about it.

On the way they met Foxy Loxy.

Now Foxy Loxy was very sly and very foxy. She knew that her three fox pups were back at the fox den waiting for their dinner. AND WHAT A GOOD MEAL CHICKEN LITTLE, HENNY PENNY, DUCKY LUCKY, GOOSEY Loosey AND TURKEY LURKEY WOULD MAKE.

So Foxy Loxy called to them.

child 19

Foxy Loxy

"Will wonders never cease to be,
Oh jumping whiskers, golly gee.
Where ya goin? stop and say,
What makes you run this lovely day?"

child 20

Turkey Lurkey

" We haven't time to stop and tell,
If truth be told, we're not so well.
We've got to go, bad news we bring,
And tell it to our mighty king."

child 1

Narrator

But Foxy Loxy did not run with them. Instead she blocked their way. She demanded that they tell her what they wanted to tell the king.

child 2

Chicken Little

"This morning, Mrs. Fox, you see,
I went 'a walkin' happily,
And as the time went whizzing by,
I felt a knock--the falling sky."

child 3

Foxy Loxy

" I understand your dreadful plight,
And that you want to set things right.
I know a quicker, better way,
You'll see the king quite soon today."

child 4

Narrator

So Chicken Little, Henny Penny, Ducky Lucky, Goosey Loosey, and Turkey Lurkey followed Foxy Loxy.

Can you figure out where Foxy Loxy was taking them? Read on and you will see.

SCENE 2: IN THE DEN OF THE FOX

child 5

Narrator

Before long, they arrived at Foxy Loxy's den where Foxy Loxy's 3 children, Foxy Toxi, Foxy Texi, and Foxy Tightly, were waiting for their dinner.

Soon, the three little Foxys were arguing over who would eat which animal first and when.

child 6

Foxy Toxi

I love chicken, as you know.
I'm sure I told you long ago...
That chicken is my favoirte meal;
It has a lot of chew appeal.

child 7

Foxy Texi

" It's not just you, I want her too
I'll eat some tasty chicken
stew.
And you will see this very night,
I'll swallow every luscious bite.

child 8

Foxy Toxi

"But I said first, so don't you dare....."

child 9

Foxy Texi:

"OH Mama come , oh don't you care? "

child10

Mama Foxy Loxy

"Now Foxy Texi, please don't fight,
You favor duck, I'm sure I'm right."

child 11

Foxy Tightly

"But.....

I like duck, I'll have my way,
So Ducky Lucky's mine, I say.!"

child 12

Foxy Texi

" OH not so fast, don't touch that duck,
Hah!! Tightly Bro, you're out of luck!"

child 13

Foxy Tightly

" Okay, Okay, the duck's for you,
I think I'll change my point of view.
The turkey's bigger, anyway,
So Turkey Lurkey's mine today."

child 14
and
child 15
together

Foxy Texi
Foxy Toxi
"Now wait a minute Brother Tightly!...."

child 16

Narrator

Just then, the little Foxys were interrupted by Goosey Loosey, Turkey Lurkey, Chicken Little and Ducky Lucky. First Goosey Loosey had his say.

child 17

Goosey Loosey

" Foxys you're so silly dumb,
If you don't know that I'm the one.
For goose is juicy, most will say,
It's what folks eat each holiday."

child 18

Turkey Lurkey

"WHAT! NOT ON THANKSGIVING
THEY DON'T!"

"I'm sure you Foxys will agree,
That turkey's best......
HEY GUYS--EAT ME!!"

child 19

Chicken Little

" I think, dear friends, you brag a lot,
But you don't have the meat I've got.
If Foxys want a yummy deal,
They'll choose a chicken for their meal."

child 20

Ducky Lucky

"When picking tender ,I will win,
With lots of fat beneath my skin.
I think you've argued quite enough.
Compared to me, your meat is tough."

child 3

Narrator

And so the squabbling went on and on and on.

Whole Group

together

"Gobble, gobble,gobble,
Peep, peep, peep,
Honk, honk, honk,
Quack, quack, quack,
Oink, oink, oink.

child 5

Narrator

Now how did a pig get into this?

Whole Group

together

Growl,growl, growl,
Gobble, peep, honk, quack.

child 11

Henny Penny

"STOP!!!

"What's going on, you crazy crew,
You're telling foxes what to do?
Will each of you close shut your beak.
Our future's looking rather bleak."

child 10

Narrator

But the arguing started again and got noiser and noiser.

Whole Group

together

"Gobble, gobble,gobble,
Peep, peep, peep,
Honk, honk, honk,
Quack, quack, quack,
Moooooo! Mooooo!

child 11

Narrator

(narrator blows a whistle and says)

stop-

What! now cows?

child 7

Narrator

Just then, and very luckily for the
poor poultry critters,Farmer Watermellon
was up and about trying to pull apples off a tree with his butterfly net. He heard the loud noises and ran into the den.

child 9

Farmer Watermellon

"I took a quiet walk, and then,
I heard some noises in this den.
Dear feathered friends what I will do,
I'll try to save the lot of you."

child 18

Narrator

When the foxys heard Farmer Watermelon's
strong voice, they were scared. The four scared foxys ran away into the woods.
Farmer Watermellon, being the kindly person
that he is , told the whole fowl group that he would take them home. And that is just what he did.
