"Jambo," in the East African language Swahili, means "HELLO."

The Jambo stories are TALKING BEAST TALES (ANIMAL TALES).

The stories are about animals in Africa who are able to speak like people.

There are Swahili words in the story.

The Swahili names for the animals are used.

A Thanksgiving story

Buana and Bibi Tembo (Mr. and Mrs. Elephant)have invited many neighbors to their Thanksgiving feast. The food is delicious and the company even better. Other animal neighors ring the Tembo doorbell and sniff the food. Though the Tembo's are running out of space, they can not leave poor hungry animals alone outside--not on Thanksgiving. So long as the company is good, and the food is wonderful it doesn't matter if you are eating in the bathroom!

A story about snobbishness

Buana Kifaru will only be friends with big animals. Small animals are not good enough for him and his family. He learns a lesson when he has a problem, and only a small monkey can help him out.

A story about self-worth

Oh,how Buana Twiga wishes his neck were short.. He finds out how useful a long neck can be when it enables him to save his friends and himself on a boating trip when a storm is approaching with heavy fog.
