PAUL BUNYAN

 

No one knows whether there ever was a real person named Paul Bunyan.
There might have been someone who was a big,strong lumberjack.
The Paul Bunyan in the stories, however, is fantasy.

 

The Paul Bunyan stories became very popular at the beginning
of the 20th century. But they might have been around for much
longer than that. In fact, some people think that the stories began
in Canada.

In the stories Paul Bunyan was very VERY TALL

He was so tall, that he stood higher than the tallest trees.

His feet were so big that his footsteps created 10,000 lakes in Minnesota.

 

Remember the balloon!
When you first look at a balloon, it is small.

There is no air in it.
Then you blow into the balloon. It starts to get bigger.
Blow more air into the balloon.

THAT IS WHAT HAPPENS IN A TALL
TALE...... AND THAT IS WHAT HAPPENS IN PAUL BUNYAN STORIES...

PAUL BUNYAN IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO TALL.
HE IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO STRONG.
HE IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Paul Bunyan could eat so much, that he eats hundreds of pancakes each morning .

The syrup must be brought in by big, gigantic trucks.

NOW THAT BALLOON IS REALLY, VERY BIG!

The TALL TALE BALLOON will get bigger and bigger and bigger as the story goes on.
