As we grow up, we all have to learn to rely on ourselves. This is called "self-reliance." It does not mean that you can never ask for help. It means that you do what you can for yourself, and ask for help only when you truly need it. You call the police when you are in trouble or there is a serious problem that you can not solve yourself.
In the Aesop's Fable, The Boy Who Cried Wolf the little boy constantly called for help, pretending that there was a wolf nearby. The people were fed up. When a wolf really came the people ignored him.
Bungle Maurice is a moose who learns both important lessons the hard way. Though his concerns were important to him, he should have tried to solve the problems himself first, and only call the police when necessary.
