“I’m in here,” she said, and Carrie went to see her.

“Mom, don’t you know where we are going yet?”

“Carrie darling, you must learn patience. You will know in time. Please don’t bother asking your father. You know that he loves a good mystery."

“Our trip is not a mystery to him,” Carrie grumbled and asked for a hint or two.

“Okay, Carrie, here are a few----.
We are not going by airplane.
We are not going by boat, train or bus.
It takes about 10 to 12 hours to get there from New York.
We will be staying for a few days.
It will be a peaceful place....... or not!”

“ Or not??? Give me more hints, Mom, please!”

“No, Carrie, that’s all I will tell you for now.”

Carrie went back into the bedroom and told her brother what their mother had said.

“Well,” said David trying to be logical.

"We are not going by airplane or boat, train or bus. That means we are going by car."

"Or walking," interrupted Carrie.

David started to laugh. "It will take 10-12 hours to get there. Maybe you are willing
to walk for that amount of time carrying suitcases, but I'm not!"

"So let's see," he continued. "Places out west like California are too far away from here.
Florida also takes longer than 10 to 12 hours except by airplane.Even states like Ohio are too far from here."

“Wonderful, Sherlock,” said Carrie, not really knowing who Sherlock is or was. “That only tells us where we aren’t going not where we are going.”
