“Carrie, you were so smart to bring the Mother Goose book.  Please, may I see it .”

Anna took the Mother Goose book and looked for a rhyme  about a shoe.

 
    “Listen to this:

'There was an old woman who lived in a ..shoe,
She had so many children, she didn’t know ..what to  do.'

 

“The rhyme on the map says,

             'The woman knew not what to do.'

“It fits. The woman who didn't know what to do lived in a  shoe.  Maybe we do have to look for a shoe. Maybe  a shoe was used as a marker of the spot  where we should dig.”
