When we think about King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, we envision the armor pictured above. In fact, most of the armor above was used in tournaments during a much later era than when King Arthur was supposed to have lived. Historians are not sure about the truth regarding King Arthur, and some believe he might never have existed. Most of what we know about him is recorded in legends written during the 11th or 12th century.

The helmuts in the lower left corner are among the few objects left from about 600 AD, a time when King Arthur was supposed to have lived.
