“ Yes, I think she did. But we’ll have to wait until breakfast to ask her,” David concluded with a noticeable sigh.

The others  nodded  and then Carrie  added, “ this mystery is mighty confusing. But as soon as we figure out where  the l00 paces end, we can dig, and find the treasure.”

“Or not,” Aaron reminded them. “This could all be a hoax after all.” Aaron was being practical but , like the others, hoped it was true.

CHAPTER 11: 
SILVER BELLS, COCKLE   SHELLS AND LITTLE MAIDS

 Mrs. Lomber was in her kitchen baking bread.
“It is a passion of mine, baking is,” she told the four  children as they entered her kitchen.
 “My mother loved baking  all sorts of things, and I guess I take after her. I like to serve fresh baked bread  at all meals.”

Breakfast was delicious.  While they were eating, the children were speaking with Mrs. Lomber who was sitting at the table with the Foster family .

 “Mrs Lomber, we heard that you love gardening. Is that correct? ” Aaron asked.
