“That’s it!” shouted David.
“It says to START with Mistress Mary. It didn’t say to continue with that rhyme.”

“Oh my gosh, David, you’ are right,” Aaron shouted as he took the Mother Goose book and started flipping through the pages.

“Perhaps there is a Mother Goose rhyme about pumpkin vines and plum trees ..maybe  cranberries or some other vegetable or fruit that might have been in the garden.”

CHAPTER 12:  THE NEXT CLUE

"Listen to this one,”  Aaron said a few minutes later.

" Peter , Peter, Pumpkin eater,
Had a wife and couldn’t keep her.
He put her in a pumpkin shell,
And there he kept her very well.”

“Horrors,” said David. “It doesn’t sound like Peter was a very nice person. ”

"No, not at all,” Aaron agreed with his friend. “But I think what is important  here is that Peter was a pumpkin eater. So perhaps the pumpkin patch is the place to dig. Remember, the poem says that the answers lie in Mother Goose. It could be any one of the Mother Goose rhymes.  So why not this one?”
