The story begins about three weeks before the first night of Chanukah. King Lester, Queen Beta and Princess Mireleh were eating their breakfast when a servant came into the room with a letter on a gold plate. When King Lester reached for the letter he pushed the tray into the servant's chin. "OOPS! So sorry!," King Lester said.

The letter was from King Lester's brother, King Loitel who is the ruler of Goisseh Metsieah, a kingdom about 75 miles NORTH of Khappen Fliggen, about a three hour drive.

" Hmm...what does Loitel wants to tell us in the letter, " King Lester wondered.
"Why don't you open the letter, dear, and find out," Queen Beta suggested.

"That's a good idea," said the King.
