INTRODUCTION

We live in a "thin-obsessed" society in which slim is considered to be more beautiful by many than "full-figured." How ironic that in the past somewhat of the opposite was true.

Paintings reveal the ideal woman as having a size 12, 14, even 16 or more. Today, the ideal woman wears a size 8 or lower.

This cultural belief is not necessarily healthy and certainly not fair. The heavier individuals in our society are oftentimes left feeling unattractive and undesirable. The truth is that personal appeal comes from within. Gracious heavier people are far more attractive in my eyes than upleasant thinner people.

I believe that a person should be at a weight most comfortable and healthful for him or her. Just what that weight might be varies, and depends upon individual tastes, lifestyle and heredity.

PLEASE KEEP THIS CONCEPT IN MIND AS YOU READ THE JINGLES THAT TALK ABOUT"SLIM" AND "TRIM."

IT IS ALL RELATIVE!

All good food management plans should take individual criteria into consideration before setting a weight goal.

I am 5'2" tall. I am most comfortable at a maximum weight of 135. When I go above that I feel unhealthy. I have been struggling to maintain my goal weight for most of my adult life.

As I write this, I am in a battle to lose at least 10 pounds.

As a writer of children's stories and rhymes, I thought that if I write some weight loss jingles which would make weight loss and weight management fun it would help me.

I HOPE IT WORKS!

Mother Goose rhymes have been in the public domain for centuries. There are many theories as to their origin. One thing is undisputed---they are popular, well-known, and fun. I therefore decided to use these rhymes as a vehicle to introduce some weight -loss and weight maintenance strategies.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF US!
