The king said to Grittel ,
" I see you are pretty, a sight to behold,
I've heard you can spin yellow straw into gold."Grittel was so shocked that the king would repeat
the silly ideas that the townspeople were saying,
that she couldn't say anything. She remained very quiet.The king then told Grittel that she would be put into a big room that had a lot of straw. She was ordered to spin the straw into gold by the morning's first light.
" Tomorrow,dear Grittel, I'll take a quick peek.
If your task is completed, we'll marry next week."The king then told her that if she did not turn all the straw into gold, then she and her father would be put in jail.
