CHAPTER 3:
PINK HENS AND BLUE DUCKS

Prince Jay and his sisters looked at all the people
wearing boxes. Then they looked at the people's
heads. The people had two pink hens sitting on
their heads, one on top of the other. On the top
of the hens were three blue ducks.

"Do the SillyDilly people wear the hens and ducks all the time?" the WillyNillys asked Princess Peek-A-Boo.

"Only when they are outside. When the people are inside,
the hens and ducks are piled outside their doors.

"Princess Peek-A-Boo, why do you have ducks and hens on your heads?" asked Princess Kay.

"Well, the hens and ducks have to be somewhere. Besides, it is a nice soft place to lay their eggs, don't you think?"

The WillyNilly royal children looked at the houses. They looked at the people. They looked at the hens and ducks.

"GEE," they said almost together, "PEOPLE AND
ANIMALS DO STRANGE THINGS IN SILLY DILLY
LAND."

"BUT IT'S NOT STRANGE TO US,"Princess Peek-A-Boo said to them with a sweet smile.
